It's my first entry on LJ, please be nice...

I discovered fanfic when I fell in love with the Mulder/Scully dynamic on the X-Files and because Chris Carter wouldn’t give my shipper dreams the fodder it needed to survive.  Like many X-philes, I jumped on the bandwagon and found Idealisthaven (a longstanding forum for the show) which eventually led me to Ephemeral, a repository of X-Files fanfic.

I spent countless hours reading.  I read good fic, so-so fic, bad fic and great fic.  It didn’t matter (not at first) because just the idea of my favorite characters doing things the TV show (as canon) shunned, blew me away.  I read through exams, illness, personal life politics and my first job.  I even changed addresses twice during that time.  Reading fanfic (and on occasion writing) was very much a large part of what was familiar and comfortable about where I was at the time.  Since then, I’ve found other shows to live vicariously through. *smile*

I’ve been lurking for about a year now and stumbled upon LJ looking for SPN fic and eventually discovered other fandoms that I’d always been curious about.  SPN still claims top billing in my heart although Chlark fandom in Smallville also keeps me equally happy.

I’m presently enjoying T:SCC thanks to

musesfool and her funk-a-delic reviews.  I sincerely hope it’s renewed for Season 2.  (For all those who’ve not already read her work, I suggest y’all stop by and read some of the fic she’s put out there.  All of it actually, it’s that good.)  I also watch Smallville and Ugly Betty.  In the past, I’ve enjoyed Veronica Mars, Prison Break and even Dawson’s Creek although have never been active in fandom there.

I’m guilty of snatching icons from some very artistic people here on LJ.  I try to save artwork under the names of those who created them.  But that’s not always been the case (I get lazy).  If however, I end up using your work, do inform me so I might give credit where it’s rightfully due.  Nonetheless thank you for being so generous with your work.

Finally, I hope to contribute to this world with writing of my own.  I’m so very intimidated right now but hope to have something up soon enough.  I enjoy writing and hope this experience will help me vent, meet other fans and just improve upon the writing process.  If you’re reading this, I’m totally friending you.  Best.
